Update: My 10 seconds of weather fame!
IT WAS ON! My map made the weather channel! I got home from work and pretty much watched the channel for an hour and half straight. Then at 6:32pm it was on for all of 10 seconds! I don't care how short it was, but it was there!!!! WHOO HOO! I'll be happy to send autographs, just email me your address. ;)
My 5 seconds of weather fame!
At work I have been making precipitation maps using GIS. Recently Hurricane Ike dumped a huge amount of rain up and down the midwest. So my task, make a map. Well my boss sent it out the the NWS offices and then today at noon the Weather Channel calls and asks permission to use the map on air! Who knows when it will be on but its exciting! Here is the map!

Chicago Half Marathon
I completed the Chicago half marathon! And I might add that I probably could of swam the race. I arrived in Chicago on Friday after to meet Tigh there...which it was raining. And for the rest of the weekend it rained all of but maybe 3 hours while we were awake. Anyway...this is my weekend..
Friday: Arrived in Chicago via the Amtrak, met Tigh, we went to Navy Pier to get our race packets for the race. After that we went to Rock Bottom to eat and on the way back to the train we found Howl at the Moon which is a piano bar. Later that night Becky (meteorology friend) met up with us at a nearby bar. She now lives in Chicago and it was great to see her! I think we drank till around midnight then went back.
Saturday: Got up...rain. Tigh and I went to the apple store to check out the new ipods. Then after that we decided to head to the Husker bar, bad idea. We got there really early, were really really bored. We should of went back to the condo for awhile but we didn't wanna walk all over, and it was raining so it wasn't like we could mosey around outside. We get to the Nebraska bar at like 230 and sit and wait till 6 for the game! We were so bored! The bar itself was really really cool, but waiting was boring. So finally 6 rolls around and the bar has problems getting the game! Finally at 7 they get the game via PPV. It was horrible. We stayed till half time cause we didn't wanna be out too late before the race.
Sunday: RACE DAY! Wake up...sprinkling. Ok I thought, this could be ok. Becky picked us up, and we owe her big time! Half the stress of race day is getting there, parking, and finding the place. But she drove us around like a pro. We get to the race, still sprinkling. We line up for the race....rain...again. It rained the WHOLE race. Not once did it stop, and the last 7 miles it was a a moderate to heavy rain. I finished the race in 2:39, I wish I would of been quicker. Tigh finished around 2:17. We got a kick ass medal!

1 year in Champaign
I can't believe, 1 year ago today I was leaving DC...headed west toward Champaign. It seems just like yesterday. I know, I say that a lot. But my time in DC felt like years. But my time here in Champaign has left like weeks. Things have gone very well for me while I've been in Champaign. And honestly I can see myself staying here for a good amount of time.
Well I'd like to make a list of things I've done while being here...but I don't think I can remember it all...but I'll try.
*my first tri sprint (and probably the last)
*a number of 5k's, 2 10k's
*Chicago half marathon (well in 2 days!)
*lots of concerts with Leslie
*my first cards game
*first cubs game
*first U of IL basketball game
*trips to Chicago, STL, and Indy
*went to NC to see Kris and the family
*i went home multiple times!
*joined a cycling group
*joined a running club
*found a great softball team
*made some friends
*have had some dates, a semi-boyfriend
*part time job at WW
*bought a washer and dryer
*bought a new car!
There are things I do want to work on
*Making more friends...right now most my friends consist of co workers. And i'd really like to expand that. I just need some more "groups" to hang out with
*A real relationship...I'm getting sick of these relationships that last a month or 2 here and there. I really would like to find a nice guy that's my type to have a good relationship.
*A house down payment, I'm sick of throwing the rent away and living in a small space.
*Maybe a new laptop :)
*Running...I'm always looking for new ways to enjoy running!
Anyway, so all in all the year has been good. This is probably one of the best moves of my life, moving away from DC to Champaign. And as always, Ill take visitors! :)
