I hate airports

It's no secret. I'm not even going to get into the details...I have ranted and complained about it too many times in this blog. Look at 2007 entries for details. :) However, I did run my ass off in the ATL airport yesterday. The largest airport I've been in. This airport incident takes the cake on my worst "running through airport" experience. I landed at 3:54 and my plane took off at 4:12. I got to the gate at 4:04...2nd to last person on the plane.

For giggles I figured out how far I had to go to from gate to gate. I ran at least .30 miles in the first leg, took the train, and ran another .30 miles in the last leg. Total ~ 1 mile from gate to gate...I ran about .60 of it.

Weekend in Asheville

This weekend I went to Asheville to see my brother and his family. Lyn was gone for the weekend so I was gonna help out with Paige and Claire. And let me tell ya, it was busy!! Those 2 girls kept me going all day, all hours, all minutes. Claire is a little over a year and Paige is 3 and 1/2, there was never a dull moment. It was great fun and I'm so glad I get to see them again in the summer and maybe again in August. Anyway, I'm still in NC and my flight leaves today around 2pm. Here are some pictures from the stay.

Casey Donahew Band photos

I didn't take my camera to the concert and quickly regretted it when we actually had a table to sit at and considering how close we were. But Dustin had his phone and these pictures didn't turn out too bad.

I'm healed!

Ok, finally I think I'm officially healed! Apparently when the doctor tells you no strenuous exercise for 3 weeks, she means it. And I guess running counts as strenuous exercise as well. I must have an illusion of that because it seems normal to me. I asked Dustin as I read the post op instructions aloud to him "Does running count as strenuous exercise?" and he looked at me blankly and was like "uhhh yea"...like a duh answer. Whatever. Anyway, I attempted to run 2 weeks post op, bad idea. I then tried 2 days later, again stupid. So I went last Wednesday which was 3 weeks and 1 day. It went decent. I then went this past Friday and it was great! I did a long walk and a little run in the middle. Then tonight I walked 1.5 miles and ran .50 and no pain! I thought that maybe Friday's episode was a fluke, but I don't think it was! Finally I can run again!!! I never thought I'd miss it that much but it had been a month. And not only physically was I missing it but man I felt like a big lard. I have weighed pretty much the same since summer...but as soon as I stopped running I just felt like a lazy POS. I am in search for a summer half marathon and a spring 5k but its been hard to find one.

Anyway, I had a really good weekend. I took Friday off from work and went to Dustins Thursday night so we could leave for KS on Friday. Friday morning was sooooooo nice out, it was 63 at 10am. Which I went for my walk/run as I said before. I took Ruby too...that is always interesting. We left Edwardsville around noon and didn't get to Manhattan till 830 because we had to go get this farm truck for his dad off the interstate and take it to a New Holland dealer. After we arrived in Manhattan we stopped at his sisters to drop off our stuff and hold the baby and say hi. Then it was off to the concert. I hate to admit this but I think one of my favorite bars is in Manhattan. The bar is just a cool place, we went there when we were back for the football game in the fall. One of my favorite bands was playing and I was insistent on going. We get there...sold out. But apparently a little extra money for a ticket will get you in. We got in early and found a great seat prob 10 ft from the stage...if that. The opening band was decent and in between sets this group of 4 people started talking to us. The guy asked where we were from...I told him we lived in IL but Dustin was from KS and I was from NE. Turns out all 4 were from Lincoln and drove down to the concert!!! I was so happy to find Huskers within all the KSU crap. But the story gets better!!! So in the middle of the concert we had all had a fair amount to drink and the guy from the group starts the "Gooooooo Biggggggg Reddddddd" cheer which I naturally responded with "go big red!" And it turns out the group directly behind us where Huskers as well!!!!!!! I was so giddy. Dustin was annoyed. It was hilarious! Husker fans rock and I have really realized this after I have left the state. I would run into Husker fans in DC and it was like they were long lost friends.

After Friday night we didn't do much. We went to the KSU basketball game. I was neutral. I like sporting events so it wasn't that painful. Then Sunday we got up and left around noon. It was a good weekend with good weather and a great concert!

March!

Its been a long time since I blogged. I realized looking back that I just kept talking about my stupid gallbladder. But it was a big deal and it was the main thing going on in my life so it took rank over everything else. Anyway...its MARCH! I also realized for the past 2 years I've been really excited (according to my blog archives) for march. Well its spring and thats good! Not technically spring but very very close. The time changes this Sunday! I like the fact that it will be lighter later, but ever since I became a runner...I really like it lighter in the morning. I venture to say in a month I could probably start running in the mornings! Which brings me to another topic...I haven't been able to get out there as fast as I thought I could. My post op last Tuesday went fine. I tried to run that night but then that night and next morning my lower abs where still sore. Apparently they had to put a stitch in the muscle and I believe that is the problem. I just walked Friday night and it still was bugging me. So now the plan is to just lay off if it....well until maybe Wednesday. Its really really fusterating cause I feel motivated to workout and I can't. I just feel like I've become a lazy blob. Oh well, I'll hit it hard once I'm all recovered!

I'm pretty excited for this weekend, its supposed to be SUNNY AND WARM! And Dustin and I are headed to Manhattan to see his new niece. We are also going to a concert on Friday night. Then apparently I am going to a stupid Kstate basketball game Saturday. I refuse to wear purple and I will secretely hope they lose. And giggle to myself when they do! So it will be good to get out and take a little trip. I'm already getting the itch to go home and I think I won't be able to go until Easter. Which is another long month. Oh well, it just won't really work to get there until then.
