Eric Church concert!

Last night Leslie and I went to see Eric Church at the Canopy Club. We saw him last year almost around the same time of the year and he was great. Well last night he ROCKED! It was hands down the best small venue concert I've been to in recent memory. I was extremely disappointed after the Luke fiasco 2 weeks ago. The worst small venue concert I had been to. So this totally made up for it. We got there around 7:45, the first band started at 7...and it was full! I couldn't believe it. Eric came on around 8:45 and played non stop till 10:30 or so. The crowd was so into it, everyone knew all of his new songs that just came out a month ago. And Eric was actually into the concert...he wasn't drunk like Luke was. It was just a great concert!

Racing weekend

It was a racing weekend and no I don't mean running races. I went with Dustin to Kansas City to watch the NASCAR truck race on Saturday and the Indy car race on Sunday. I'm not a huge racing fan by any means. But I like the activities that go along with sporting events. So it was actually a lot of fun. New Holland is also a sponsor for the race, so we got tickets and pit passes, oh and good parking spots. Anyway, we arrived at the track on Saturday afternoon and the race got all of 52 laps in before the storms started. We made our way back to the car just in time to hear tornado sirens! Thats right, we were in a tornado warning! Initially I was excited. But then I quickly realized that we were in an open field with no way out and with lots of cars trying to exit. Luckily nothing bad happend....but the next day I watched the wx channel and checked out storm reports and one report was about 2 miles away. Thats it. It was a little too close for comfort. We got back to the hotel which was the same one we were at for NYE and then we all went out in downtown KC. The wx was way better going out this weekend than on NYE when I was about freezing. The next day we headed back to the track for the Indy cars. They actually got the whole race w/out a rain out. This time I got to go down in the pits and watch what all goes on. I really thought it would be more crazy down there but apparently NASCAR has the huge following, not Indy cars. But it was still very cool. Anyway, here are some pictures from the weekend. Spring Things

This week has been a little more busy than usual. I went home last weekend and even thought it was a 4 day weekend it went very fast! That happens when 2 days are driving days. Anyway, spring finally arrived on TR and F in Champaign. Thank goodness, Friday was absolutely amazing! But this week will start off cold again. This past Thursday I went to another Luke Bryan concert with Dustin, Leslie and Eric. I was very very excited for this concert but was extremely disappointed when I left. First, they had 2 openings acts and the 2nd band played what seemed like foreverrrrr. Then when Luke finally came out, it was bad. I'm pretty sure he was thinking "what in the hell am I doing in nowhere Illinois?" The concert was in Tolono, 10 miles south of Champaign, population 1500...if that. At least he was awesome when Leslie and I saw him in Indy in January. Today I had to work at WW. I haven't worked a Saturday in over a month, but it was a nice break. I also got a 5 mile run in! I haven't done that in a longgggggg time. Maybe since the half? I'm not sure. Anyway, I have a 10k in 2 weekends and its gonna be an eye opener. Well here are a few pictures from the weekend.

My worst decion of 2009 (thus far)

Its really not as bad as my title says...but it was a stupid move on my part. I volunteered to watch Ruby (Dustin's dog) at my itty bitty apartment on the 3rd floor for 2 weeks while he was out of the state for work. The first week he was in Ohio, then at my place for the weekend, then the next week he was in Memphis. The plan was he would leave Ruby at my place and she would be there waiting for me when I got home from NC. Then at the end of the stay I would just take her to his place (yesterday).

I quickly learned that my apartment is not set up for a larger dog. I got rather sick of walking up and down the stairs. She didn't have much area to run around. Plus, I wasn't supposed to have dogs in my apartment anyway. So anytime she barked I cringed and promptly told her to shut her yap. I also had to go home from work each day to take her out, which got old fast. I thought it would be fun at first, to have a running buddy. But Ruby has too much muscle and energy for me, and she is not leash trained. By the end of the stay I had reached my max in patience for her on the leash. I have also learned that picking up dog poo is not fun. Ruby also hates riding in cars. So when I attempted to bring her home it was a big ol disaster. She did fine in Champaign but then decided she needed to be in the front seat and climbed over the seats to get to me.

But now Ruby is back home and I think we were both glad it was time for her to go home. Some pluses is that I wasn't alone and had her to entertain me. And it made me go for a walk/run basically every night. I have learned that my apartment, car, and muscles are too small for an engergetic dog like Ruby!!!

Sure she looks inocent but don't let her fool you. This was after she climbed over the seat and wore herself out from freaking out.
