I haven't blogged for awhile and I haven't really been busy so I don't know what my deal was. This weekend was uneventful. I went behind Kenny (Chesney's) and Pat (Green's) back and sold my ticket for their concert. I know, it was a horrible thing to do. But I sold it for $80 and I really needed the money. I hope Kenny and Pat can find it in their hearts to forgive me! Saturday night I met up with Wes and Gwen at the Rock Bottom for one last time. Sunday was pretty much nothing. I have started reading Harry Potter and I"m on the 4th book and I read a good chunk of it on Sunday.
I am once again sitting on my floor in front of my computer typing away. Which is a good thing cause I sold my desk! Now I just need to get rid of this pesky shelf. Things are moving along with the moving process. I pretty much have my room packed up. I called my top choice for an apartment today and I think I'm going to put money down on it to hold it. That will make me feel better about moving there. I am getting very excited to move. I think it will be nice being in the midwest again. But there is always that adjustment period...I hate that. When you move in and the walls a bare and you don't know where your stuff is. Then you don't know where the store is. And it just sucks. Oh and the worst part is you won't have cable for the USC vs Neb game and have to go to a bar alone!!!!! I'll get over it.
Anyway, I go home Friday and I"m excited! And there is only 4 days till kickoff! YAHOO!

Happy Birthday to me
Today I turned 26....yup 26. It wasn't too bad and I had a lot of good bday wishes. I woke up to donuts from Alex and Shannon which was extremely nice. However I'm always trying to watch what i eat. So I took those things to work. Then the lunch crew went to eat at Mi Rancho, which was good. However one of them told the workers it was my bday, so I got a stupid sombrero put on my head but I got free ice cream! I heard from a lot of old co workers from AFWA, many family members and friends. Birthdays are always fun. My 25th was pretty good, nothing horribly bad and the move to DC went well.
Speaking of moving, I'm getting things in line to leave for Champaign. It's going to be a little stressful but not near as stressful as moving here.

Moving to Champaign, IL!!!
I got the job!!! I can't believe it, I got the job! Today I couldn't take it anymore...I emailed the HR lady at the Illinois State Water Survey (ISWS) and asked where they were in their process. It had been a month since my interview and I figured I deserved the right to know. So about an hour later she wrote me back saying she was going to call me this afternoon and offer me the job. Wonderful! I'm pretty excited. So far I will be moving the week of the 10th and starting the 16th. The only major catch in this...the USC game is the 15th and it might be hard to have cable by then. So I either need to make friends fast or hit up some bars in Champaign that will have that on tv and look for red shirts. Husker fans always welcome other Huskers with open arms...especially when you live out of state.
Anyway, I will be only about 7/8 hours away from home. Around 2 1/2 hours to Chicago and also close to Indianapolis and St. Louis...oh and it's in the midwest! After living here for almost 9 months I've decided the east coast is kind of one big rip off. The cost of living and expenses just don't make sense to me when you can have the same thing in the midwest. Anyway, enough of that. So that is the big exciting news around here! These last 3 weeks will fly by. I guess I have done most I wanted to do here in DC. I know there is way more I could of done. The only thing I regret is not driving to Asheville more but this summer turned out to be way more busy than expected.
I do have the nervousness. Like finding an apartment, getting settled in. But I have checked it out, they have a Target and thats about all I need. JK. Speaking of, Lincoln got a SuperTarget which I get to go to in 2 weeks! Anyway, Champaign also has a WW, a running club, a cycling club, numerous gyms, pretty much what I want. Plus my job is on a campus and campuses has everything a person could need. My only goal will to be not to get banned from U of I parking! ;)
PS, I am going to Pat Green and Kenny Chesney on Saturday, that is exciting too!!!

Uncertainty
So if things aren't up in the air enough right now with possible jobs, one more thing got thrown into the mix. I got an email from my landlord/roommate, Alex, today saying he was not interested in renewing the lease past Oct. 14th. Great. It annoys me that he couldn't tell me in person and had to write me an email...wuss. He was 2 floors down from me. Anyway, I was wanting to move out anyway this summer but told myself just to stick it out if I was planning on leaving at the end of the year. Its kind of like when you want to dump someone and then they break up before you can do it to them and you want to say "I was gonna break up with you anyway!" Or like a job where you were gonna quit but you get fired and you wanna say "I was gonna quit before you fired me anyway!!!"
Now this just puts a twist in things that I don't like. If I don't get any of these jobs I really don't know what I will do. I don't want to sign a lease for 6 months cause that will put me in at March. I don't really want to stay here till then. I could try to find another roommate and go that route and hope they are lease flexible. Who knows. Who knows why he did this either. I guess I wasn't the fun loving friend he'd hope he'd have. I didn't rent this place to have a friend...I'm not a "rent a friend". Or maybe he doesn't need the extra cash. He didn't care to explain his decision.
Hopefully something will work out. I had the SAIC interview Thursday and honestly, the job sounds extremely boring. It is writing reports...not small ones, books like 3 inches thick. I really don't feel like doing that. I hope all the pieces fall together by the end of this month. I would feel good knowing what I'll be doing for next month.

Haircut!
Today I got my haircut! I love it! For awhile now I've had my hair long and was getting semi annoyed with it this summer. But I just kept it cause I don't change easily. I think it hit me last Tuesday that I was extremely annoyed with it and something had to be done. So it's about shoulder length (a little shorter) now and feels wonderful! FREEDOM!
Anyway, my day got better when I got home and there was a note from Alex saying he would be at the beach until Friday! I have the whole place to myself and that rarely happens. So I am going to veg out tonight. I don't have many free nights anymore and Tuesdays are usually non eventful.
On Thursday I have an interview with SAIC, which I need to prepare for. I haven't heard anything back from the other jobs yet. I know I'm getting excited at the thought of leaving DC and going back to the midwest, but I need to remember this may not happen. If I don't get those jobs then I need to suck it up and keep going. I'm just hoping something works out.
This past weekend I went to Richmond to see Steph and Lance. It took me 3 hours to go 90 miles...I was raging!!! I was having a hateful east coast moment and really could of gave a crap less if the whole eastern seaboard fell into the ocean. Why are there so many people here and where are they all going? It's just so populated here and I don't think I will ever get used to that. I was just wishing to be dropped into a pasture of nothingness in the middle of Nebraska. Otherwise it was good seeing Lance and Steph. They are talking about coming to DC for the USC game and we would go to the Nebraskans bar on Capitol Hill. Speaking of football....2 weeks!!!!!!! And I will be in the motherland for the first two games!

August 9th
Today I had an interview with Nebraska Dept of Environmental Quality. You just never know what you are gonna get in an interview. I thought this one would be very technical, like asking a lot of air quality questions. Wrong. It was a lot of personal questions such as "have you ever been in a situation where....blah blah blah and how did you handle it?" I hate those. Anyway, it probably went better with those than technical questions cause I really don't know anything about air quality. I have not heard anything from the U of I yet. I am getting increasingly impatient about that. Hopefully I'll hear about both of these jobs soon. Next Thursday is the last interview I have and that is for a job in Germantown, Maryland. Its about 15 miles up the road (away from DC). Whatever happens happens.
This weekend I'm headed to Richmond to hang out with Steph and Lance. Their work is having the company picnic at an amusement park, so that will be fun. I"m excited to do nothing tomorrow night and Sunday. Pretty much the whole weekend. I've either been gone or working at WW on Saturday mornings. It will be a good relaxing time. Hopefully a little cooler, stupid heat.
