Old Settlers 2007!!

Alright I finally have time to start my blog....

Wed after work: I decide to go with Micah and Jason (co workers) for some happy hour. Bad idea, I got to the airport at 7pm and my flight was to leave at 7:40pm. So I was in a huge panic, I made it, got to the gate at about 7:10 but I have to stop doing that!! Luckily security was very quick. I arrived in Omaha at 9:20 and it was good to be back in Nebraska! My parents picked me up and we headed to NB.

Thursday: Woke up, ran, then got to play with Paige! She has changed and was so much fun! I got ready and left for Lincoln at about noon to eat lunch with Tigh. After that I went and got my drivers license renewed and then my hair done. Then Tigh, Nikki, and I went to carlos o kellys and played a good ol game of trivial pursuit. After that I headed back to NB.

Friday: I went to Fremont to meet with my finical advisor, that went very well. It's exciting to see how much money could grow over time. So that is a motivator to save more. After that I had lunch with Christina. Then went back to NB. Lyn and I hit up the NB swimming pool for about 2 hours or so. That night Christina and I headed to the bottom road for the band where there was a ton of people I haven't seen in a long time!!! Kelly and Michelle were there, my brother and sister in law went for a bit. We closed down the bar, went to bed at 130am to get up and run the next day.

Saturday: Woke up to early and slightly hung over. Kris, Christina, and I ran the 5K in hung over style!! We rocked it! I managed to place 3rd out of my age division...not sure how many people were in it. But it was fun. After that we had breakfast and hung around. I got a good nap in before the Saturday night festivities. That night I headed to the good ol beer garden. I saw even more old classmates there and a few college friends!!! The ol "garage" crew was back together. Me, Zack, Kelly, Jimmy, Christina....we thought about having another one for old time sake but didn't. After that closed down I headed to the poor house with Kelly and Michelle, drank more there.

Sunday: Got up, laid around, got ready for the parade. This day I saw lots of family, always a good thing. Kris, Lyn, and Paige departed around 4pm and I hate good byes very badly. So I did a quick good bye before the waterworks really started and went to the park to distract me. Christina and I went on my all time favorite ride...the Zipper. I think I'm finally too old for it, I thought I was gonna puke. I'll put that on the retired list. That night I relaxed and drove around town.

Monday: I headed to Omaha around noon to hang out. There really never is a bad time when I hang out with Ann. We made the most of our 2 hours and drank it up. Which left me nice and sleepy for my flight, good timing. However, my layover in Milwaukee went from 30mins to 2 1/2 hours!!!! It sucked. I got into DC at 12:30am and to my place at 1:30, bed at 2am. Fun! I'm a little sleepy today.

The trip back home was great. It left me very very homesick and I'm itching to move home. We'll see what happens but I need a job first. This pretty much happens each time, but this time it was more. I think I just saw a lot of friends and family and had too much fun. I'm about half way through my time here so I just need to keep chugging along and get this job experience!

My days at home were a blast, they went very quickly!!! I am trying to get all the photos up. So here are a few from Ann and I's 2 hours in Omaha before I left. Yup, we know how to live it up in the short amount of time we have! I will post lots more pics and a "re-cap" later.

Old Settlers here I come!

I'm pumped, I am going home tomorrow!!! I'd have to say, I spent some of today freaking out. Trying to get things in line and thinking about packing. But I had a triumphant moment about 15 mins ago. I got 5 days worth of clothing into my carry on sized suitcase!! NO BAG CHECK! I have become spoiled with not checking baggage, I just hate that. But thanks to hot weather and summer clothing I was able to shove everything in there. I'll have to leave my cycling shoes behind, but honestly, I was probably not going to use them. I got my running stuff for the 5K on Saturday, that is important. I have multiple tops to choose from for Friday and Saturday night. Flip flops. Swimming suit. Check. Check. Check!

So far my tentative schedule looks like this. Fly into Omaha from DCA...DIRECT FLIGHT! Arrive around 9:40pm. Then its off to good ol North Bend where my whole family will be! Well not Jamie, but he's only an hour away, just down the road. Kris, Lyn and Paige will be there! Thursday is my day in Lincoln. I'll get up and hang around, hopefully run. Then head to Lincoln to have lunch with Tigh. Then get my license renewed, yippy for being 26 in August....oh god. Anywho, then get my hair done! Then supper with Tigh and Nikki and roll in NB at night. Friday, meet with money advisor in Fremont (I know, sounds important). Then the rest of the weekend includes beer, beer, beer, run 5k, beer, beer, beer. I then come back to DC on Monday at 530pm. I am ready to get out of the office. I'm sick of that place! I haven't had a long weekend since April I think. Ok, so really its not that long since a weekend, but still. Seems like everyone is on vacation but me.

I can't wait for some good old fashioned Old Settlers fun! It doesn't get much better than this!

A free weekend!

So I'm loving the weekend already. First, the weather rocks. Its so nice out. Its not too hot or rainy. It's 71 right now and today the high will be 80ish...perfect for laying around the pool! Second, I just got done running 6 miles on my favorite trail. It didn't go too badly but it left me wondering how the heck I ran 13 miles about a month ago. Third, I just bought Kenny Chesney/Pat Green tickets for August 25th!!!! My goal was to find someone who liked country music so I could go to the concert. I did it. My coworked Seth, his fiance is a Kenny fan. So yup. I'm on my way to Kenny! Fourth, I lost .8lbs this week, small but good. Especially considering I hadn't been able to work out or eat decent for awhile with company. Lastly, I have a whole day of nothing planned. I'm gonna go lay by the pool!

I'm getting very very excited for Old Settlers now. Old Settlers is just like a holiday. I just looked forward to it every year! I remember when the carnival would roll into town. Ok, so that wasn't very classy, but you knew it was right around the corner then. So far my plans include getting my hair done Thursday in Lincoln and hanging out at Tigh and Nikki's that night. Then the rest is in NB. I'm running the NB 5k (2nd one for me!) on Saturday. Thats about it. It will be great! I can't wait to see everyone!

Free weekend ahead

I am pretty excited for this weekend. I don't have anything to do! I have it pretty much planned out however. Saturday morning I want to get up somewhat early and go and run on the Capital Cresent trail. I have not done this since before the half. Then I want to hit up the Rockville library. After that I plan on going to the pool all day. Then Sunday, shopping, and swimming pool. Yup. That is it.

I'm also getting very excited to go home on Wed. I haven't really had time to think about it since I've been so busy. I think these past couple days it has hit me its right around the corner! I have plans to get my hair done in Lincoln on Thursday and then the 5K Saturday. So far...thats it. It will be awesome!

I better get going to my WW meeting. It seemed like I had a lot more to say when I started typing but guess not.

June 11th

Things around here seem to be keeping me busy. I've started my WW job which I really enjoy. So I'm doing that on Wed and Thur nights. Then I have my cycling class on Monday night. It seems like I don't have many nights to sit around. Which is good. It's also making time go extremely fast. I'll be heading home for Old Settlers in a week! I can't believe that is just around the corner.

I have been thinking about moving lately. So last night I met with this lady that lives in the same complex of townhomes. The house was nice and it was my price range. But the lady was not compatible with me. She is going through a divorce and had to bring that up in every accpect of whatever. I understand that is a hard time but I really don't wanna be around for the aftermath. Everything she pointed out as a bad habit of hers, well I don't like at all. Such as dishes, clutter, and leaving laundry in the washer for 3 days. It pretty much is not a match. So back to the drawing board.

Other wise, nothing else going on. This weekend I am going to be lazy and do nothing. I hope to lay by a pool both days. I can't wait!

So this weekend David visited me and we went to see Steph in Lance in Virginia Beach. We had a really great time. Today on the way back we stopped in Williamsburg also. I'll write more tomorrow when I have more time but here are some pics.

June 5th

Not too much as been happening. I've been pondering the idea of moving. For some reason Alex wants to change the rent around and in the long run, I think it's stupid. I had been looking on craigslist (how I found this one) and today I found a townhome in the same complex I am now. The rent is about $125 cheaper and with utilities added it would be a good savings. So I'm hoping to hear back from this person and check out the place. Hope she is normal and that it would be a good move. I guess I'm not me if I don't move every 6 months.

In other happenings, David gets here Thursday, yippy! I haven't seen David since like December or something. Then we go to VA beach, double yippy! And hang out with Steph and Lance. It should be fun.

Also....I'm going to be an aunt again!!! Sometime in late January!

It's been awhile since I've gotten on here but things have been busy. Last weekend Tigh and Nikki were here. Jimmy was here this weekend. Next weekend David is here. Trust me, I like having visitors and being busy but compared to my low key life, I'm getting a little tired. I met up with Jimmy by the White House after work Friday and then met up w/his cousin who lives here. She has lived here for about 2 years or so and lives on Capitol Hill. So we ventured over there and chatted a little, then went to eat in the Eastern Market. Which was pretty cool. It is truely DC, not the suburbs. The houses are small little squished together things...probably expensive as a 4 bd hour in North Bend and 1/4th of the size. But the area was cute and city like. We ate/drank at a little outside bar area and then Jimmy and I headed back. Yesterday we ventured to eat and explored around. Which I found a very richie shopping area only about 5 miles south of me. They had Tiffany & Co, Dior, Barney's....blah blah...stores I will never ever be able to shop in. But could dream about. Last night we grilled up and awesome dinner and then watched tv. Today, got up, Jimmy didn't have much time, we grabbed some breakfast and then I dropped him off at the metro. I then went and spent 1 and a half hours at the gym. It had been awhile since I was there.

It was good meeting Jimmy's cousin. She is an UNL alum and is on the DC alumni board. She talked about how everyone gets together at a pub in DC for Husker game day and it made me want football season so bad! She also talked about how in a couple weekends there might be a big 12 softball tournament and I will try to get to that. So she is a good person to know. It made me want to try to get out and do more things. But after awhile, its just gets annoying to try to do things. Its not fun being nervous about going somewhere completely different. However, I think I've done a decent job. Oh and I've been here for 5 whole months now! Its weird to think about. And each month goes faster than the last.

As for this week. I start my WW meetings on Wed nights, maybe Thurs nights for awhile. David arrives Thursday. So I have a couple days to re coup. I plan on being totally lazy the rest of this day...it's a rainy day. I'm glad its rainy this weekend and not last.
