College Football Fever

Its here...and I got it bad! I'm so ready for college football season its not even funny! This past week I've been reading articles, looking at blogs, looking at schedules. I zeroed in on the Illini games I want to try to go to. I've been looking at all the new Husker apparel online, deciding what I want. And today...the icing on the cake...I got my football tickets to the first Husker game!!!!! About a month ago I got my Nebraska Alumni Assoc newsletter thingy, and inside was a request for football tickets. It was only one game and just a pair of tickets. So my first choice was the first game. I really didn't think I'd get them being it was a lottery system. Today, I got the confirmation email...I got the tickets! I'm so pumped, so excited!

Everyone should check out this blog I found. http://thecollegefootballguys.blogspot.com/ I'm not a fan of the football girls thing, but whatever guys will be guys. The podcasts are pretty good also.

41 days till kickoff!

A trip home!

I just got back from a week trip back home to Nebraska, as usual it was busy!

Wed: I got up and ran (I'm very dedicated to this half training) and hit the road a little before 8am. I went through northern MO, the way I've taken most times. I got into Lincoln around 3:30 and went to Tigh's office. We hung out for a little, then met up with Nikki after she got off work and ate. After that I headed to NB.

Thur: Got up and ran my 3.5 miles in NB, which is tricky since the radius of the town is barely 3 miles. So I ran out to the cemetery and back. After lunch, Mom and I headed up to the grandparents. They are cleaning out their house...just because. And it was almost like a treasure chest, the whole house. I ended up keeping my moms old records from the 70's. Waylon and Willie, Johnny Cash, etc. It was pretty awesome. Then my grandma also had kept the Fremont Tribune from the day JFK was assassinated which was crazy. So I took that as well. We headed back to NB and then Jamie and Renae went to NB to eat w/us.

Fri: Renae highlighted my hair in the kitchen which then turned into a major issues with no where to really rinse my hair. We ended up outside with a garden hose, hehe. After that was done I hightailed it to O'Neill so I could hang out with Melissa. Now I've been to Ewing 3 times in my whole life, 2 out of the 3 times I've stayed up late enough that it was getting light out in the morning! I don't know how this always happens, but it does. And I usually drink too much beer and never get enough sleep, but its always so much fun!

Sat: I took off from Melissa's around 3 and got to NB, took an hour nap which was MAJORLY needed, got all dressed and headed to Lincoln. There the Lincoln crew gathered downtown for some more drinking, which wasn't too crazy.

Sun: Nikki, Tigh, I, Eric, and Ann ate at ihop and I told them good bye and headed back to NB. Which I promptly took another nap so I could somewhat function that afternoon. Christina and I went to the swimming pool later that day. It was good to chat with her, we didn't get to hang out too much this time. That night I got my 5 mile run in. I had to run to Morse Bluff to get it done, which seems like a long long run when I'm running to another town, but its only 2 miles away. I was rather proud I did that run with not many issues after the long weekend.

Mon: Got up and helped mom with a few things and headed back to Champaign. I got in around 6:30 and had time to settle in and get things organized.

It was a really fun trip home. Just the right amount of time, not too long, not too short. As always...enjoy the pictures! The next time I go home is in 46 days...why do I know that you ask? Well its FOOTBALL! It must be that time of year because all my friends that are freaks about it are talking about it, not even the ones that live in the state. I can't wait for college football to start!!!!!!!!

4th of July weekend

So it's been a decent amount of time since I posted. Lots of things have been going on and I've been keep decently busy. This weekend was lots of fun, it was the 4th and Leslie's bday was the 3rd. Thursday after work me, Leslie, Eric, Athena, her husband Tim, and another co worker Mike all went to eat. After that we went to play putt putt which I can't remember the last time I did that and then went for ice cream. It was a good relaxing night.

The next day Eric had a party at his place and it was a big one. He had his friends from work, his friends from home, Leslie's co workers (my category) and some other friends. Luckily the weather was nice, and I was even wearing a hoodie at the end of the night. I rather take that weather in July than sweating my butt off.

Yesterday Leslie invited me along with Eric's friends to go out to Kickapoo state park. This is where Tigh and I went over memorial day. It was a great time. Turns out they have canoes, kayaks and tubes there to go on a river. So we canoed down the river and then around the lake. The lake was amazingly clear which was really weird. But I guess these lakes are pretty deep cause they used them for coal mining along time ago. Like 100 feet deep or so. After that we hiked a little bit, and then started a fire with some beers. Leslie and I left around 11 and came back to Champaign. The rest stayed out to camp overnight.

In other exciting news...I'm going home Wednesday!!!!!!!! YIPPY! I haven't been home since Easter and I'm really excited. I'm not so much excited about the drive, that always sucks. It seems like I was just home but it's been awhile. I guess time flies when you are having fun. Oh and my Chicago half marathon training is in full swing. I'm about 3 weeks in and quickly moving out of the "fun" zone. :) But I wanted a challenge and I'm gonna get it.

Well here are a few pictures from yesterdays canoe trip down the river...
